A few highlights...

In Reading, we are learning about author's purpose and how author's sometimes write to entertain.  We are also talking about characters and describing them.  Today, after we read Flossie and the Fox we worked with partners to discuss the characters and write about why we thought they were interesting.

Some students presented on their Native American projects today.  Look how awesome these projects look!

In Science, we're learning about weather.  We split into groups to research and learn more about different storms.

We've started measurement in Math.  Today, we created our own yard stick with cash register tape using a ruler to measure out the correct number of feet.  We used it to measure distances of objects in the classroom.

Estimating and Measuring

We're beginning to learn about measurement.  Measurement is used for lots of different things.  We're also learning that you can use many tools/units to measure an object.  Today, we made estimates for the length of our unit strip if we used pennies, paper clips, and sticky notes.  After we estimated we measured using those objects.

Tomorrow we will be making our own rulers to use when we're measuring!  :)

Science Investigations

We're learning about weather in Science.  Today, we did several experiments making rain, thunder, lightning, a tornado, and measuring temperature of sleet/snow.  Here are some pictures of our investigations.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!!

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday week we had a book character parade around the school.  We had to choose a book character and dress like them.  Check out these cuties!
